Aida shares her ethical AI expertise at IASEAI conference
Dr Aida Brankovic, research scientist at AEHRC, is passionate about developing artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support clinical decision-making. She’s just as passionate about making sure these tools are safe, ethical, and can be trusted by users.
She recently led a project creating the first guidelines for mitigating ethical risks in development of AI-supported clinical decision support tools.
The project brought together AI experts and clinicians to understand the needs and values of clinicians when working with patients and form guidelines for tools that are safe and trustworthy.
Aida applied to present this work at the Inaugural Conference of the International Association for Safe and Ethical AI (IASEAI). She was one of over 2000 applicants, and one of only 600 people invited to attend the prestigious event.

Aida Brankovic at the Inaugural Conference of the International Association for Safe and Ethical AI, held at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OCDE) La Muette Headquarters and Conference Centre in Paris.
In attendance were three Nobel laureates, three of the ‘fathers’ of AI technology and the UN Secretary General, as well as leading experts from academia, civil society, industry, media, and government.
Over two days, conference attendees discussed the latest developments in AI safety and ethics. Key conversations took place around agentic AI – sophisticated AI systems that can handle complex tasks and act with autonomy – and associated risks, strategies to manage these risks, and ways to ensure the creation and use of these tools is safe and ethical.
IASEAI was held in the lead-up to the AI Action Summit in Paris, an event attended by over 1000 people from more than 100 countries.
