AEHRC’s Andrew Goodman recognised as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander STEM leader

July 15th, 2024

Dr Goodman, a proud Aboriginal man from Iningai Country in western Queensland, was recognised by the science publication Cosmos.

Andrew brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our Indigenous Health research team.

He spent over 14 years as an Indigenous healthcare worker in rural and remote regions of Australia. His work in the discipline of cardiac health inspired his PhD studies with the University of Queensland on using mobile health (mHealth) to manage hypertension in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healthcare settings.

After completing his PhD, Andrew joined us as a postdoctoral fellow. He and the Indigenous Health team partner with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations to collaboratively address significant health issues facing Indigenous communities.
