AEHRC team wins international medical AI challenge
Next week, AEHRC Research Scientist Dr Bowen Xin will travel to South Korea to present at MICCAI2025, one of the world’s leading medical AI conferences, after taking out first place in the global SynthRAD2025 challenge.
The challenge attracted more than 600 participants from around the world. Our team’s winning solution introduced a new medical image synthesis framework that constrains geometry consistency in addition to image similarity, resulting in more accurate and reliable outputs.
As part of our commitment to open science, we will release the code and a detailed report used in the challenge, ensuring the broader research community can benefit from our approach. The framework will also contribute to our ongoing sCTgen project, helping to advance innovation in synthetic CT generation.
Being invited to deliver an oral presentation at MICCAI2025 is a major recognition of our team’s research impact and a valuable opportunity to showcase Australian-led advances in medical AI on the global stage.
Apart from Dr Xin, other team members included CSRIO’s Dr Hollie Min, Dr Gregg Belous, and A/Prof Jason Dowling and Mr Zhengxiang Sun from the University of Sydney with support from his supervisor, A/Prof Xiuying Wang.
